Science and Technology Studies (STS), ethics and values, transdisciplinary research, social epistemology, public engagement in technoscience.

At Plaksha, I am the Director of the Social Knowledge Lab, where we broadly explore the following questions: 

• How do people work together to construct knowledge?
  What are the social and creative ways that scientists, engineers, social scientists and different publics construct knowledge and maintain and repair different infrastructures? 
• Whose knowledge counts, and whose doesn't?
  How do expertise, authority, and credibility get distributed — and what happens to the knowledge of those left out of the process?
• How do technologies and science shape what we know?
  From microscopes to algorithms, how do the tools we build reshape the boundaries of ethics, values, and multispecies relationships?

Besides researching critical and creative ways that science and technoscience is made, I also use creative practices in my research. I developed a storytelling method for ethical deliberation and social epistemology called STEMtelling. Additionally, I have designed an ethnographic board game as a research practice for engineers and social scientists. I have also used speculative fiction as a practice of working in transdisciplinary teams to envision different possible futures. Tangential to my scholarship, a collage that I made was published in the 10th Anniversary Edition of the journal Catalyst: Feminism, Theory, and Technoscience.
